I had a very sad AU come to me about the zodiacs. 

I could see them all orphans, and having a terrible childhood on not having parents, and all they had were each other. Once they all got seperated into foster homes, they would be tossed around from home to home. 

It came to me very simply. I had a friend whom was like that. She was tossed from home to home, like some pet. I would listen to her stories and once I remembered one, I got inspired to draw this.
